Meet Ron…UCLA grad, tax accountant, meal-prep connoisseur, and proud member of Reason Fitness. He joined with one mission: to take back control of his health. What followed was more than a physical transformation—it was a complete shift in lifestyle, energy, and purpose.
Living just five minutes away from Reason, Ron drove past the gym daily. But it wasn’t until his blood pressure, cholesterol, and A1C reached worrying levels that he finally walked in the door. “We checked out a few other gyms, but they felt like used car lots. Reason was different,” Ron recalls. “Coach Luke sat me down and was just honest—no pressure. That’s what sold me.”
At the time, Ron’s A1C was 6.1 (pre-diabetic). Today, it’s 5.2. His cholesterol? Down. Blood pressure? Normalized. “My doctor was blown away,” he says. “I didn’t need meds. I just needed a plan—and people.”
Tax Season Meets Front Racks
As a full-time CPA, Ron knows busy. “April is nuts. So is September and October,” he says. But no matter the workload, he’s in the gym 5-6 days a week. “If I don’t work out, I’m less productive at work. I’ve learned that training gives me more output, not less.”
He also credits Reason Physio with unlocking his mobility. “I couldn’t get into the front rack at all when I started. Now I’m doing workouts like Fran Rx. That feels like a miracle.”
A Community Worth Sweating For
Ron quickly became more than a member—he became a connector. Together with friends like Jason, Tiffany, and Carlos, he launched the Reason Meal Prep Swap: a community-based initiative where members trade homemade meals to stay consistent and try new flavors. “It’s helped me build deeper friendships—and eat better, too,” Ron laughs.
That sense of belonging reached new heights when he and his wife Lisa were named Reason’s Members of the Year in 2023. “That award meant everything. To know my coaches and peers saw my growth—it was humbling and powerful.”
Strength in Every Direction
Ron’s favorite workout? Murph. Yes, even the double Murph version. “I love that one. It’s hard, but it reminds me of what I can do now.”
He’s squatting 315 pounds, meal-prepping spicy Greek chicken, and giving shout-outs to coaches who’ve helped him grow.
“Coach Lauren keeps me accountable. Coach Kara helped me overcome my fear of lifting. Coach Ed gave me a nutrition plan I could actually live with.”
Advice from the Tax Guy Turned Beast
“Don’t be afraid to fail,” Ron says. “I was never athletic. I was scared of looking dumb. But I learned here: there’s no losing…only learning.”
To his younger self? “Try things. Fall down. Get back up. You don’t need to be perfect. Just show up.”
